  3. Make better financial decisions, involving complex operating procedures and analysis of capital purchases
  4. Transition from frontline positions to leadership roles
  5. Develop quantitative skills for the non-quantitative thinker
How are the courses structured?

Our courses are designed with you—the busy learner, small business owner, stressed-out student, professional businessman—in mind.

Each course gives an overview of the learning objectives, and each course is made up of a few lessons. Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to answer some questions, work problems, and take quizzes. At the end of the course, you will be directed to the final exam.

How long are the courses?

Each course takes approximately four to six hours to complete, allowing for some time for reviews and rework. However, we have designed the courses to be flexible so you can fit them into your schedule. The courses consist of multiple lessons with teaching objectives for each lesson. Each lesson is about 30–45 minutes in length. The learning management system (LMS) offers convenience and ease by allowing you to stop in the middle of a course and then redirecting you back to your stopping point. So if you only have a few minutes, feel free to learn a little; the course will be waiting for you when you return.

How much does it cost?

From the very beginning conversation, when the idea for BBO began, we knew we wanted to make BBO affordable for anybody to take. That is why our pricing is such a good investment in your future. Please see our Getting Started page for complete prices.

The Business Word Swamp is the term The Biz Bucks Guy came up with years ago for the many terms with multiple meanings and the many multiple terms for the same meaning. What can I keep?

BBO is an online, interactive series of eight courses. Each course includes problems to solve that require the download of an Excel workbook. These files are yours to keep. In addition to the Excel workbooks, you will have other resources you may download and use. We ask that you only use these items for your personal use and give attribution to BBO when applicable. BBO holds the copyright to all the downloads. We appreciate your honesty.

Can I do BBO with my math anxiety?

You should have no problems. BBO is basically add, subtract, multiply, and divide. The only tough math is in Statistics 1. The Biz Bucks Guy will hold your hand through that and any other math issues. You must have a basic understanding of Excel spreadsheets. All the exercises are based on Excel. See “Do you have Excel training courses?” below.

Do you have Excel training courses?

No. The learner should have a general knowledge of Excel, but by no means needs to be an expert with the program. Don’t let Excel scare you away. We walk you through each step when using the program. There are numerous Excel training videos and programs you can watch to brush up on your skills if you think you need to before starting BBO. One free source is YouTube. Search for “Excel basics for beginners.”

Will you provide certificates of completion?

When you have passed the final exam of each course, you can download a certificate of completion. Each course’s certificate will indicate 4.0 Professional Development Hours (PDHs). PDHs are proof of on-going development for professional registered engineers, accountants, and others with annual development requirements. When you have completed all of the courses and passed all the finals with a score of 70% or higher, we will (snail) mail you a final Certificate of Completion.

What are the system requirements?

You will need to have access to Microsoft Excel 2010 or higher to complete this course. Excel is the standard program used in almost all businesses for financial computations. We want you to learn how to perform these business concepts in Excel so you can apply this to your business and career.

Every page of every lesson of every course has a transcript of the audio. Just click the “transcript” button in the upper right corner of the course, and you can read along.

Are you accredited?

No. Our goal is to make this knowledge affordable to you to help you in your career, education, or business. Accreditation would not allow these coursed to be affordable.
